Welcome to EEASA
We are a collective of scholars of early America based in Europe. EEASA exists primarily as a bi-annual conference bringing together scholars from the Americas and Europe to discuss the history and cultures of the British, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch colonies and empires in the Atlantic World.
This blog is EEASA’s main platform. It holds the history and archives of the association and a record of past conferences and prizes, and it promotes the programs and announcements of forthcoming conferences, including the Naomi Wulf Prize and other EEASA prizes. It connects European scholars of early America and helps them share their research and advertise their publications.
Statement on Ukraine
The scholarly community of the European Early American Studies Association condemns Russia’s aggression against independent Ukraine and calls for an end to the war and the withdrawal of Russian forces from the Ukrainian territory.
We are all convinced that only in peace is human prosperity possible, only in peace can human dignity be guaranteed, and only in peace can all research and scholarship that is essential to ensure human coexistence be carried out.
With this resolution, we join in the statements of similar content by many scientific bodies in Europe and around the world, and we offer our condolences to the families of the victims of the war.
